Take note of how much give there is on your pressure points; your head, shoulders, buttocks and heels should all be in alignment. If you’re feeling as if the mattress is pressing hard on these areas, the mattress is too firm. If your body feels as if it’s sinking and there is no resistance at all, the mattress is too soft. Studies conducted on back pain show that for the most part, the biggest sufferers slept on the softest mattress.
